Saab in Australia

Investing in Australia's future for over 35 years

We’re defence, we’re security, and we’re everything in between.

We're innovators by nature, and exceed when there's a new challenge - continually diversifying our offering based on decades of proven success.

In 1988, we established our headquarters at Technology Park, South Australia to support and develop the defence capability of Australia. Our first contract was building and integrating Australia’s combat management system for the Anzac Class frigates. Since then Saab Australia have developed and integrated technology to protect and empower Australia’s Navy, Army and Air Force to keep people and society safe. We develop high-technology solutions for allied nations, as well as civil security and aviation technology with major installations in prisons, airports and iconic public spaces.

Our primary business is the development, integration, production and support of advanced operational systems, mainly for Defence, but also civil security applications. Our core capabilities in engineering, through-life support, integration, innovation and project management deliver services to customers across the naval, air, land and security domains.

Most notably, we provide Australia’s Defence Force with a world-class naval combat management system and ground-based air defence solutions. Interoperable with allies, but sovereign-built, adapted and supported on Australian soil, Saab provides cutting-edge technology that Defence can expand as needed to meet emerging threats.

The skills and knowledge from these programs, coupled with innovation, has led to further successful locally developed capabilities in security, unmanned systems and mixed reality.
